An easy to grow, flowering perennial producing crisp, delicious spears during the warmer months. It prefers a well-drained soil, in full sun or a partly shady position. It’s quite a voracious feeder and needs plenty of organic matter such as cow manure to thrive. Asparagus is a delicacy and can be eaten raw or cooked. It’s delicious in soups, eat the spears steamed, grilled or roasted, or serve raw while still young and tender.

  • Grower's note: the asparagus berries are poisonous and only the young shoots are edible.
