Add beauty and elegance to your home with this breathtaking orchid. This long living, pot plant produces strappy, green leaves with purple, white or combination flowers for many months throughout the year. It is ideal for indoor spaces or a glasshouse. Grow it in a brightly lit, warm position that is out of direct sunlight and away from air conditioners, heaters and draughts. Keep in mind that hot, dry conditions can also cause unopened buds to drop.
Size — 64mm
Light Requirements — Indirect sunlight, Morning Sun, Part Shade
Soil Requirements — Special potting mix, Well drained soil
This orchid does best in a free draining mix made of coarse bark. It can be re-potted every one to two years.
If your orchid is in a free draining mix of coarse bark, water it regularly. If your orchid is in sphagnum moss, water sparingly every 2 weeks. Do not, over water as roots will rot. To give your orchid the required humidity, stand the pot on a tray of pebbles. Fill the tray with water so the plant is in a humid zone. The pebbles keep the pot from sitting in water, which could lead to rotting or fungal problems. Mist the plant on very hot days.
Cut the flowered stem just below the last flower. Nodes further down the spike can produce more flowers in the months ahead. If the stem doesn t bloom, and begins to dry out, cut it off at the base. Watch for a new stem in 9 to 12 months.
