Grow beautiful blooms in an evergreen garden during the cooler months of the year. The Camellia hybrid Betty Ridley produces a rich display of dense foliage and formal, clear pink, double flowers. It is a hardy, long living, spreading shrub that likes acidic soil. It looks great in a feature pot and also makes a wonderful hedge or espalier.

You can plant your Camellia at any time of the year, however the best time is in late winter. Choose an outdoor spot with partial shade. Your Camellia will do well in slightly acidic soil. Do not add lime to your soil.
Always keep your Camellia plant moist, especially in hot and dry weather. Use compost and mulch around the plant to keep its shallow roots cool and moist. Be sure to keep the mulch away from the trunk to avoid any potential rot.
You can lightly trim the tips of your Camellia plant during spring to shape or thin out its branches. This will also keep leaves dense and compact.
