Finger Limes are an Australian native, spiny citrus shrub or small tree with dark-green leaves and white flowers appearing from autumn to summer, followed by lime fruits. The fruits have a cylindrical, elongated shape, like fingers, and come in a variety of colours including green, yellow, brown, black or purple.
The fruit emerges in autumn and is extremely unique looking with small bead-like pulp that resembles caviar, and has a light green, yellow or pink colour with a tangy citrus flavour. The fruit is highly nutritious, rich in Vitamin C and high in antioxidants.
Finger limes can be used in sweet and savoury dishes, cocktails, beers, jams and jellies or as a garnish.
The plant will begin to bear fruit in the second or third year.

| Planting Advice | Plant in a sunny, open position in well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as the root-ball. Take out the plant from the container and place the plant into the hole so that the soil level is the same as the surrounding ground. Fill in the hole firmly and water it well even if the soil is moist. To keep the tree free of grass and weeds, and to retain moisture, remember to mulch well but keep mulch away from the tree trunk to avoid collar rot. |

| Watering needs | Water regularly during warmer months, when buds appear, it starts flowering or when fruit is forming. Water container specimens every three to four days, and more often in hot weather. Do not water the trunk. |
| Pruning Advice | Prune in late spring with pruning shears to shape the tree and to remove any dying, low hanging branches or leaves from the tree. Take off any suckers at the base of the trunk and on branches to encourage new growth. |
