This Eastern Australian plant grows clumps of arching canes with green leaves that are 40 centimetres long and 10 centimetres wide. Its white, shell like flowers are terminal and followed by blueberry like fruit. This plant likes a lightly shaded to part sun position. The new leaf shoots, berries and root tips have a mild ginger flavor and can be used in cooking and eaten directly from the plant.
