A striking ornamental tree, this variety of crab apple produces an attractive display of colour and interest through all seasons. With rich, dark red-purple foliage, it produces masses of magenta coloured blooms cover the tree in spring, followed by vibrant red ornamental crab apples in summer. The stunning dark foliage ages to a rich bronze-orange colour in autumn, before falling in winter and exposing the attractive dark stems and grey bark. An excellent focal point for gardens and streetscapes, this tree tolerates warmer areas well and needs to be planted where there is space so the tree can reach its natural form.
