A sweet delicate, onion flavoured vegetable with large thick-stemmed, creamy white stalks. It's popular during winter when used in soups, savoury pies and casseroles. A very hardy and disease resistant, reliable mid-season vegetable making it a favourite with the home grower. Musselburgh will produce leeks with a fine flavour. Harvest approximately 12 to 14 weeks after transplanting, when stems are 20mm thick.
