Bean Climbing Purple King produces long flat, dark purple beans that turn green when cooked. They are easy to grow on most cultivated soils with the support of a trellis or netting. Plant in a sunny position and harvest beans regularly (approx. every 10 - 12 weeks) for longer yields.
|Soil Requirements — Well drained soil|
Sow thinly, 6mm (quarter-inch) deep in rows. Cover with fine soil or compost and keep moist. Thin seedlings early to 2cm (1in) and later to 10cm (4in) apart. Allow 30cm (1ft) between rows. Prepare the soil well by adding organic material and a pre-planting fertiliser. Onion varieties vary in maturity so you can have a crop for many months of the year.
Water this plant well in dry periods.
Pinch the tips out to encourage a bushy growth.
