Planting Advice

Sow seeds 5mm deep in pots or trays of seed raising mix. Tomato seeds need the warmer temperatures, so try to maintain a temperature of at least 18C. Transplant to individual pots when the plants reach 5cm high, planting into a greenhouse, grow bags, large pots or beds. Water daily and feed with liquid fertiliser when the first truss of flowers appears. Pinch out the side shoots as they appear and provide support for the plants as they develop. It is best to stake early while the plant is young to ensure a nice straight stem. Seeds can be sown directly once the soil warms in spring. Solid trellising should be provided prior to the plants becoming established.

Watering needs

Water tomatoes daily.
