Add colour and theatre to your outdoor space with this spectacular plant. As its name suggests, the Narrow-leaved Bird of Paradise produces long, straight, tube or grass like leaves. It is also dotted with orange and blue, bird like flowers. This plant is slower growing than other Strelitzias but its architectural shape makes its a great choice for a modern garden.

Cultivate the soil before planting. Dig a hole that is twice as wide and deep as the container. Remove the plant from the container and place it in the hole, so that the soil level of the plant is the same as the surrounding soil. Fill the hole with soil, tamp down firmly, and water well, even if the soil is moist.
Water this plant until it is established. Keep soil moist, especially in dry weather and avoid waterlogged soils.
Remove faded flowers and old foliage at the base of the plant with a pair of clean, sharp secateurs, annually.
