This variety of Ananas is an interesting and fun plant that grows an ornamental miniaturised pineapple on a thick stalk from its centre. The fruit is inedible and only grows to around ten centimetres, but it adds a bit of tropical charm to your garden. Ananas are a plant in the Bromeliad family with long, strappy leaves that have finely serrated edges, and which grow in a rosette from the central crown of the plant. Mature plants develop fruiting spikes from the centre of the leaf structure, and new plant pups grow by off shooting from the base of the main plant.
This ornamental Pineapple plant is great planted in a decorative pot, or mass planted in a tropical garden to create colour and interest. Grow in a full sun to part shade position in free draining soil and keep well watered.
