Snow peas are a tasty, easy to grow nutritious variety of pea eaten whole in its pod. The plant produces heavy crops of flat, sweet, crisp, edible pods with very small peas inside; the whole pod is tasty, although the tough "strings" along the edges are usually removed before eating. It prefers a sunny location with well-drained soil.
It can be cooked whole, stir fried or eat raw in salads. Excess pods can be blanched and frozen.
- Growing tip: pick early and often before the pods become tough.
