A sun loving, ground hugging plant that has pale pink-lilac flowers in Spring. It has slightly larger and greener leaves than ordinary Thyme that have a unique lemon scent and flavour. Plant in dry exposed spots with good air movement. It needs little water and will die in heavy, wet soils. Thyme can be used at all stages of cooking. Add thyme early for strong flavour in soups, casseroles etc, or late for stir fries and salads or as a garnish for any savory dish. It is high in many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are all essential for optimum health.
