Hailed as one of nature's superfoods this sprawling, shrubby vine produces small and shiny red oval berries about 1cm long with lots of small edible seeds in the centre. Native to China the shrub can get to 2.5m high and wide over time. These nutritional powerhouse berries thrive in any sunny position and the plant likes to be trimmed back every winter.

Sow in trays of seed raising mix or direct where they are to grow in the garden or pots in full sun. Sow seeds 5mm (1/4in) deep. Cover lightly with fine soil, firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear within 14 to 28 days. Thin as necessary and plant out when large enough to handle.
Keep soil moist.
Likes to be trimmed back every winter.
