Very popular across the Mediterranean, these long, pointed peppers with thin skins, and large green leaves have a very sweet flesh and few seeds. They're delicious char-grilled until the skin bubbles and bursts and can be easily removed, making a wonderful antipasto when dressed with garlic and olive oil.

Choose a sunny yet sheltered position. Sow 5mm (¼in) deep in well-drained soil or in pots. Keep moist, weed free, well-watered and fertilise regularly. Pick often to encourage further fruit growth. Harvest 10 to 16 weeks after sowing.
