A cylindrical-shaped lettuce with long heads of tasty, dark green leaves and firm ribs down their centre, at maturity it forms an elongated cupped 'heart'. The leaves are sweet, crisp and excellent for salads. Traditionally used in Caesar salads for its nice flavour and texture, it holds its shape well so is often used for finger food or appetisers. Unlike most lettuces, it is tolerant of heat.

| Planting Advice | Sow seed thinly, 3mm (¼in) deep in rows 30cm (12in) apart. Thin plants to 15cm (6in) apart. Fertilise regularly with an organic fertiliser. Harvest eight to ten weeks from sowing. |
