An unusual, attractive quick growing plant that produces vibrant burgundy-red pods on tall plants, up to 100cm, with dark green and red tinged leaves and burgundy stems. This unusual member of the hibiscus family with its red pods that hold their colour after cooking, is commonly used in African, South American, Indian and Mediterranean cuisine. The pods can be used fresh or dried in soups and stews. Very prolific and tolerates cooler growing conditions.
