Butternut pumpkin is a high-yielding, pear-shaped pumpkin that grows on a vine with a yellow-cream skin, a delicious deep-yellow flesh and flat green leaves which help give them some shade. It has a sweet, nutty taste and an orange fleshy pulp with a cavity of seeds in the bottom. As it ripens it turns a deeper orange and becomes sweeter and richer in taste.
|Light Requirements — Full sun|
|Soil Requirements — Well drained soil|
Prefers a well-drained, rich soil and sun. To encourage side shoot growth pinch out growing tips at five to six leaf stage. Harvest when fruit stalks are withered, brittle and after the vine has died. Fruits can be stored for months in a cool airy place.
